Linux Mint 14 Review - Linux Distro Reviews

==What edition will you be using/trying and why?==

A review of the Cinnamon Edition of Linux Mint 14 Nadia. Overall, a very responsive and customizable user experience focused on Mint's user base of experienced computer users. It's fantastic to see Linux Mint become more and more independent from its big brother Ubuntu, as these distributions seem to have parted user bases.

Noah Taylor : mint better than ubuntu? (been a ubuntu user since 10.04)

Salpeteroxid : The Ubuntu GUI crashes for me and i can't get it back, I've found Ubuntu very unstable in the hans of an amateur.
tatsu : this is true, there are tons of rules about what you can't do, or rather how you must go about it to not screw up unity and still get the features you want. easy fix reinstall and this time make sure what you want to do does not strike up an incompatibility before you do it.
passive_annihilation : I've been using Elementary beta on my big old HP pavilion. It's aesthetically nice and goes well with the big screen when using keyboard shortcuts. But I think they're focusing a bit too much on getting the UI "perfect" with reach update. It's getting kind of silly to me. I think I'm gonna switch to Mint.
Andrii Kapinos : you should have called that cinnamon review

Hekkaryk Kcalb : Imagine making this type of video with distro that 2 kids bypassed password lock: https://www.zdnet.com/article/linux-mint-fixes-screensaver-bypass-discovered-by-two-kids/
... the other one is Ubuntu. Yikes.
Bert Nijhof : I tried Ubuntu the first time in 2005 on a spare Pentium II and I was impressed. But at work I used Windows, so I stuck to Windows XP.
In 2008 I bought a new Dell laptop, which had two problems: a somewhat immature Windows Vista and a very slow 160GB HDD. So I started dual booting Windows Vista and Ubuntu 8.04 LTS. After my retirement in 1-1-11 I switched completely to Ubuntu and I stayed on Ubuntu all the time.
Ubuntu is Very Reliable and it introduces Real Innovation (Snaps; OpenZFS; Wayland and upcoming PipeWire).
Granny Gives Head : thanks. I was hoping to switch from windows 10 to Linux, this was very helpful
Bokhalid al3nizy : I don’t like the operating system to be heavy on the device’s resources so i prefer Linux Mint for intel i3 processor laptop it very good for old slow computers they cant run good on windows10 and 7
Gewglesux : for a FTP server what is better to use?
